The Slightlys Rocking the Santa Monica Pier
As the sun set over the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday, July 30, 2014, in Los Angeles, CA, teenage alt-rockers The Slightlys claimed their prize as the winners of the Rusty’s Surf Ranch Emerging Artist Competition with a lively show at the beach.
As they had throughout the SoCal battle of the bands contest, they brought some fans of their own and then made many more by the end of their performance (both on the pier and on the nearby sand). So much so, in fact, that event organizers allowed them one more song, which led to some swift instrument swapping and the musical highlight of their night with “Incommunicado” – a standout track featuring a frenetic fiddling tour de force.
Ahead of their upcoming debut album, The Slightlys have a selection of self-released songs available for download at Reverbnation. See them play live as part of The San Diego Music Thing in September 2014.
